Pretty much exactly this. I've used N-Y for over 3 years now because as a UK-er there isn't really a better option for exclusives (Big in Japan don't have as much variety and every time I use Toku Taku I get slammed with customs fees) and have never had a problem, but I'm very aware of their questionable customer service and would likely jump ship if a better option ever arose.

Leaving stuff "in preparation" for days/weeks has become a pretty frequent problem in the last few months, but it's never really adversely affected me because I use SAL shipping and even then it still ends up turning up quicker than most places. For stuff requested via EMS though it's completely unacceptable though, their shipping rates aren't cheap.

That isn't to say I haven't had minor quibbles with them though. Last month they randomly cashed all my stored points into a coupon even though I didn't ask for one. When I complained they basically said "tough luck we can't reinstate them". Not a huge loss because their discount system is a joke anyway, but I wasn't impressed with their attitude.

The shipping fees are also rather questionable. Especially since I know for a fact they don't ship things SAL unregistered. They say they do, but they actually send them registered but don't tell you the tracking number (which explains the seemingly high price). I know this because when I miss their parcels, the postman writes the tracking number on the failed delivery card. Why they do this I have absolutely no idea, but it's pretty strange.

So yeah they're a decent enough service to use if you're never in a rush for an item, but the minute you need their customer service for something you're gonna run into trouble. Thankfully that hasn't happened for me yet, but it's only a matter of time I suppose.
