I thought that was a pretty amazing ending to the series. What a quality series. I know there had to be filler episodes but I sure can't think of any, I enjoyed every single episode from first to last.
some thoughts if anyone cares on the final episode: SPOILERS obviously,..but you're probably not reading this if you haven't seen episode 25, so...onwards...
The shot of Riku becoming Geed while walking towards the camera, actually growing and becoming the giant, and they showed it. The camera keeps pulling back and looking upwards until Geed steps over the camera. I thought that was an amazing shot. Usually the henshin happens as an edit so it was really neat to finally see the actual transformation of a human into an Ultra with no cutaway.
The full slam of Belial into that tall building by Geed looked great. Just great miniature work and explosions with mushrooming clouds in this episode.
Belial slamming Geed into the overpass and then picking up that big piece of the overpass and smashing it over Geed was pretty awesome.
Belial slamming his claws through Zeros chest was brutal. And all the blood/light flying out of Zero was intense. That was a serious injury. You don't really see that in these newer Ultra shows.
Leiha,...wow. What great fight scenes she had this episode. Kicking the chair that was thrown at her to the side, responding with immediate fisticuffs when her sword was knocked away, the block and rapid rabbit-punches to Keis stomach were pretty awesome. She's always been a great fighter on this show but this episode really pulled out all the stops. And then the final mercy and compassion she showed her enemy in the final moments was just amazing. She let the hate go and showed her enemy some compassion as he transitioned? In the end you almost felt sorry for him because he was just sick in his mind. Just amazing. I didn't see that coming at all and it made me like her character even more. That was a real, "Acting like a Hero", moment.
The Land of Light!!!!! All the Ultras!
The theme song as climatic fight music was oddly just perfect. It's such an uplifting and hopeful song you wouldn't think it would work as fight music. But being that it was the uplifting and hopeful turnaround of the fight it was actually just perfect.
After all he's been through Riku wants to sit down and watch Donshine tokusatsu. That's pretty awesome. I really like that after everything he's still a toku fan-boy. His expression when he sees the little kids playing Ultraman Geed was pretty great too.
I'll miss seeing Moa every weekend. I've dug a lot of the women of Ultra from Anne in Ultraseven, to Fuji in the original '66. Mizuki in Ultraman Max (it was neat seeing her come back as Leitos wife), Juono in Ultraman 80...there's been lots of great women in the Ultra universe,..but Moa had such a quality of sweetness and kindness and innocence I really liked her.
All in all I think this was a tremendous series. I really enjoyed it and I think it's in my top 5 of Ultra shows for sure.
I'm really looking forward to the movie.
