I hate self-advertising, but I actually verbally explained a method for applying shock oil to Figuarts hips in a video of mine (Go to 12:40):

I also made a video actually applying it to the joint of a Transformer, too if you need an actual video demonstration. All you really need to do for any joint is just get a bit of oil in the joint via some sort of crevice or opening. In addition, TokuNation's own SentaiTamashii made a video about applying shock oil to a GoBuster figure. His is a bit more effective than mine because you can actually hear the difference as the oil works (my camera mic is terrible):
