Makes sense.
There's been a bunch of times watching Kamen Rider or Sentai where I thought,
"this wouldn't be shown to young kids in America."
Heck just last night watching Dairangers the Gorma woman was hurt in the fight and had blood coming out of both eyes while she yelled that she was blind and couldn't see.
or Kou watching his Mom get smashed by falling rocks?
That wouldn't work here, they'd never show something like that to little kids.
So when I said earlier that it seems aimed more towards teens and young adults,..that may not be the case in Japan, but in the States scenes like that are very much like....idk...Buffy The Vampire Slayer? Something aimed towards teens and young adults. Shows that make sexual innuendo jokes and have things like blood and violence.
I wasn't trying to talk trash about Power Rangers earlier, btw. It just seems extremely "kiddie" in comparison. I know at the end of the day all of these Toku shows are supposed to be for kids, but I guess I see different levels of maturity and 'kiddiness' in them.
Like Ultraman seems more kid-friendly to me than Kamen Rider, and I really like Ultraman. I guess I'd consider Kamen Rider to be the most grown up out of all of them. It can get surprisingly dark. Not even counting stuff like Amazons.
