The reason why he wasn't able to use Genius was probably due to the lack of emotional/mental thing that seems to be need to activate certain rider forms. If you need an example of what I mean then the first thing that comes to my mind is when Fourze couldn't activate Magnet State because he got into a fight with a friend. May not be a good example or reason but it so far is the only one that makes sense to me.
