I can guarantee you that "another" came up before the first script was even written, and that agito was deliberately pointed out. You can call it incorrect all you want, that doesn't make it not true that it was deliberately picked out already knowing about Another Agito. I can tell you that for fact outright that it came up in the initial pitch.

2.5 seems to explain it as does episode 2 overall. So I still side with, "they hadn't written it yet" so couldn't answer that.
Episode 2 and 2.5's 3 rules do seem to explain it.
Especially rule 3. So like I said, I lean on some things depending on when asked that, couldn't be answered because it was still being written, and to fully explain it would mean major spoilers for episodes that had yet to air.
This really isn't that uncommon in creative circles. Sometimes a response you're being told isn't entirely true, but it's as true as they can say at that time to avoid spoilers, or because not everything has been put to the page outside of a basic outline.
Like I can guarantee you there were 'show notes' about Agito and Another Agito, but it wasn't fully decided how to use them or what to cut. But nothing full depth, as that was likely an open show notes area for them to do material they were more familiar with. As well as have maybe not fully known what actors are going to be available for it either, which determines a lot too.
Another example of this is Family Guy. Seth can literally tell you what skits will make it into a season or at some point in some season. It's all on the white board so to speak. But how those transitions work, or where is another matter. Those episodes haven't been written yet, and some material could get pushed back, pushed forward, pushed to a different season etc. But the notes of certain things are still there but not fully fleshed out on how to use until it comes to using them.
Same is true for various shows and comics and many creative works, even movie serials. The main prelim event outline is there as well as show notes, and various story beats and promo interview script stuff for hype reasons. The glancing story beats, and other bits. How to implement them isn't written until it's time to write where they may be used. Then different things can get pushed back, altered, or tweaked. The process of how a serial is written is usually done in that way. It's not adlibbed or impromptu per episode(well not fully, some stuff gets noticed that then has to go back and fix, like in this case Evolto since now Build the show ceased to exist). Some spoiler stuff can't be said, some stuff can but then it involves explaining something else that is a spoiler, or it tips the hand too much about future plans.
Like for example, answering that Agito question would have spoiled episode 2 and the 2.5 which indirectly answers the Agito question.
But I do agree with Sunred on this, and they will throw in some meta stuff. That was the intent from the get go as we're seeing with the .5 episodes and their literal reading from scripts, which is meta in itself about creatives also having to read from scripts when dealing with certain things and interviews.
That's part of the problem to interviews in general. An author of a novel can't exactly tell you what happens in chapter 17 of a book to a character and then how the book ends. Then what's the point of reading the book and the journey through it. In that same way, tv shows that are more fluid in filming schedules, have to use vague answers like "have yet to get to that" or "watch and find out" or similar remarks. Because unlike a book that's published, it's still in the process of being made with a plan, but a plan that's subject to fluctuate based on needs or if new material might be handed down from the top or the financers.
Like for example. I can tell you flat out the show will only focus on the 19 heisei, while that's technically true, it's not entirely accurate. Movies are likely to be known to cover showa too(which isn't show, I did say show will be heisei not movie), and spoiler warning: after
den-o the show will start to have showa too.
But if asked about that, the response is going to be 'we haven't gotten to that' / 'haven't written that yet.'
But the show outline/show notes itself does say
"After Den-O then showa riders can be added."
Can't get any deeper into spoilers than that.
So when interviews are going on, take what they say at face value, but also know they are only saying what they are allowed to say. What's been checked off as okay on their own scripts handed down by those above them to use. Some stuff they're not allowed to say. Either for spoilers, to push hype/discussions, or otherwise.
Like we're seeing from things in show itself, what's in the book is allegedly gospel, but elements can go off script too. Not everything we're told from creative areas is gospel to the show until it's in the show itself. And before then, it's all a matter of normal promo song and dance and hype building. You don't hear full accurate material about the process until a show is over. So in Agito's case, literally that episode hadn't been written yet.
For example "Build". If someone had told you after ep1
who was an alien, the world would be destroyed, and the last minute forms we got of riders who hadn't even appeared yet,
you'd call them nuts and ignore them. But then it happens. Now Zi-O in particular doesn't have as strict of an outline as build had though either. But there are certain rules in place about it and certain overall brand goals. But this is the nature of the creative industries in general, especially when dealing with franchises.
Like I've said before, Woz gets his books from a library.. Now granted, they are pretty overdue books though. So some stuff is still not something anyone can expect because it hasn't fully been written yet. Like Sougo said in the ep itself. Which is kind of meta as well as one of those heartwarming things, but still. The show is a blank book itself still being written, even though they do have cliffnotes to help and a base outline. Same as the belt itself had to have sounds put in ahead of time to cover the full year and movies. More is in that outline than they want to tell you yet. But discussion to keep buzz going is a normal hype move. And that's what Agito is. A fan hype move, as well as waiting to see what's all available to use on casting.
I swear some of the late fees on those books could outright pay for Sentai and rider seasons themselves though... It's a veritable Thief's ransom. Or King's ransom. Depending on how you look at it, or from the angle of which show. xD
