It does make me wonder about Heisei Generations Final. Just goes to show they got a writer who actually friggin' knew what the characters series involved were about rather than just cheap cameos. If only Zi-O could deliver the same...

The only reason they did that was because Ryosuke Miura returned as Ankh as well. Better from a story perspective. If it was Hino himself they probably would have used PuToTyra. Then again, I don't think the purple medals exist any more so who knows.
