I've only watched a few episodes of Ultraman X and that's about my only real foray into the Ultraman franchise outside of Figuarts and news about fusion forms.

Do I have to watch a previous Ultra Series to understand what's going on or will it be like Kamen Rider and Super sentai where cameos just show up and I can understand the plot without needing to know heir backstories?

I really want to get back to the Ultra train, but I don't want to to have to know the complete history or something before watching it.
