Plus, even if subbing groups will shelve their releases (as they should) the internet never forgets. So if you really can't get the official release - you won’t miss out on anything.

I'm in for an official release of Kamen Rider in the west; question is where they're starting though. Showa? Heisei? With Super Sentai, Shout started with the original version of Mighty Morphing Power Rangers, Zyuranger, so... will they release Kamen Rider Ryuki first because of Masked Rider Dragon Knight? Or Black RX because of Masked Rider?

Ryuki/Black RX does seem the most obvious, but keep in mind: Power Rangers, and especially MMPR, is actually popular and well known in the general nerdy pop culture sphere. Both attempts at localising KR on the other hand fly way under the radar and tend to be remembered with disgust when someone remembers at all. ... And I certainly wouldn’t try and introduce someone to W or Kuuga with “hey, remember Ferbus?”

I think it’s fairly likely we’ll start with either Kuuga or W. Bluefin’s been riding that Heisei Belt train and hasn’t so much has referenced Showa, so it’s clear what part of the franchise they’re banking on.
