Amazons in general is a weird beast. I definitely wouldn't blame anyone for wanting to bail out after an episode or two. For both seasons, it wasn't until the back halves, when I could see the story coming together, where I really got into them.

The scene where Iyu's dad eats their family, and proceeds to slowly eat her (especially taunting that he's eating her eyeball), it was too gratuitous for the sake of showing gore. Add to the fact that the scene felt eerily as if he's raping her. It's pretty out of character for the dad too. Yes, they turn into cannibalistic people, but Amazons feed on instinct, her father immediately turned into a psychopathic killer. At least that's the best I can remember because no way I'm watching that again.

And later on during that episode where the Amazon's girlfriend was mistaken as the Amazon and she got hurt, and as her monstrous boyfriend visited her, she said she doesn't mind if her boyfriend eats her. His instinct? Bites her head off just because they wanna show decapitated head. That's fucked up for the sake of being fucked up.

Despite that, I still love season 2 primarily on how our main protagonist is the main threat of the season, and the fact that he was killed offscreen.
