So I don't know where the saying of Ryuki almost killing the franchise comes from. But I have heard that Ryuki was considered somewhat unpopoular with older viewers so maybe that had to do with it? I also heard the movie was made in case of the show getting cancelled hence the name of the movie and the summary of it.
