Black RX mostly gets flak for being "lighter and sillier" than Black. I think the people who say that are mostly a) focusing on Black's darker episodes and b) looking specifically at the first 10-ish episodes of Black RX. Yeah, Kotaro doesn't have a goofball sidekick running around after him in Black, but Black also didn't kill off two major supporting characters in the finale. The tonal whiplash from Black's finale to RX's opener is definitely real, but it's not the complete story between those two shows.
