Inui means "dry", actually. Inu is dog, but I've never been sure how intentional the phonetic similarities are? I'm leaning toward it being a coincidence.

Hey, I talked about the entire series without ever once directly mentioning it, and the fact that apparently ARE fans out there who don't know this already makes me feel very glad I made that decision!

Also, now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure that fact never comes up in Takumi's reappearances in Kamen Rider Taisen and the like? Which, if I'm not just forgetting something (it was maybe in Kamen Rider 4?), serious props to Toei for not just defining his entire character by that one big twist.
