Guy's got a whole decade of adventures that actually happened, and you could go watch them, but all that's relevant to Z at the moment is that he's a cool hero with a lot of experience, and that's why Z looks up to him. Anything more complicated than that will likely be given clear exposition thanks to Haruki being as fresh to Ultraman as any new viewer is, which is the case for the protagonists of most other shows as well, even one like Geed that leaned particularly heavily on existing continuity.
Essentially, while there is a lot of connection between shows, it tends to be pretty strictly focused simply on allowing for returning

, with elaborate world-building and overarching plots you need to be caught up on being close to non-existent, which is why I'm happy to see people jumping into Z and liking it!
Perfect, thank you! I won't worry about it then. It definitely felt welcoming to a newcomer without relying on the viewer already knowing everything, which I'm glad about. Your example of Ultraman Zero makes that especially clear; I had no idea who he is or what season(s) he's from, but the show made it clear what his relationship with Z is which is all that matters in the context of this episode. If I keep liking Z this much I'll definitely check out some of the past seasons though so I can appreciate things like that better.
