But yeah, Paradise Lost is... I mean, personally, the word "good" doesn't cut it for me? I absolutely adore it. It's always been my favorite Rider movie, and even though there's some stiff competition nowadays, it probably always will be. I actually said a whole lot of words about it already! With bonus Double movie review!

As usual, a lot of sloppy and occasionally straight up backwards lines abound here, like this one, where Mari is supposed to be saying it's wrong to arbitrarily hate all Orphenochs. She's sticking up for Yuuji in this scene and saying it's okay to trust him. The idea that Orphenochs exist who don't hate humans is not a hypothetical to Mari when she's friends with no less than three of them, all of whom are currently in the room.

The line immediately following this that TV-N has as the fairly nonsensical "It's probably just that they think neither humans nor Orphenoch have anything to do with them" is also more like "I think it probably doesn't matter whether someone is human or Orphenoch." There are other little errors peppered throughout the movie, but these ones harm the themes the most.

Something to look forward to with Blade is that Excite! Subs did a completely from-scratch translation of it after they did Ex-Aid, making it one of two whole early Heisei shows to my knowledge (the other being Kuuga, thanks to Shout) that aren't currently stuck with variations on choppy TV-N translations. Excite's version is what I rewatched Blade with, and it comes highly recommended by this translation cop, if you weren't planning to use it already. Natural sounding dialogue in your Rider shows is just one more thing you've earned the right to after all this work!
