A series with multiple types of mooks offers some diversity. A Sentai with mooks that enlarge is also fun cause then you can have episodes without a MOTW and devote more time to story then the time it takes to show the threat of a new MOTW in addition to the fun of seeing a Robo take down an army of mooks. Some mooks become central to the plot of an episode, like the special Imps which served Venus in GoGoV 35. Then you have special occurrences like the Combined Combatant from the Gokaiger Movie. In rare instances, the mooks are so connected to the Big Bad that we learn something through the mooks, like that whole thing with Genis in Zyuohger (admittedly, that "revelation" didn't really change much, but still...)!

Mooks can be fun and interesting and are a staple to a Sentai more than Riders these days. Riders haven't totally abandoned the concept by any stretch, but Sentai seems to always lean into it more.
