I can understand that the vibe of the scene is probably suppose to be like she has just lost her memories instead of being a new person, but I really can't come to seeing it that way myself. It would require an exceedingly generous read even without the way the show has been consistently presenting how the backups and stuff work.

That being said, looking back at the scene of the two of them in that big void and telling stupid jokes for one last time... It's making me get choked up despite everything. Next time we see Aruto and Izu is future movies or cameos, I'm just going to not think about the show's final scene and just be like 'oh hey its aruto and izu!'.
