I usually use $2 acrylic paints from a local craft store neear my house. Granted, they're not exactly the best results in the world and I'm thinking of upgrading to Tamiya. You might want to find tutorials online as different brands might need different techniques.
If you're starting off painting, use acrylic-based paint (like Tamiya), not enamel. Enamel paint requires thinner so it doesn't eat through your Gunpla's plastic and is quite possibly hazardous to your health when wet.
EDIT: BTW If you're gonna use Mr. Color brand paint, you need to use Mr. Thinner to properly use those things. For more information visit this website:

EDIT 2: Oh, also, I just found out that Mr Colors are lacquer paints, which explain the need for thinner. However, lacquer paint fumes are toxic to humans and are usually used by professionals. I recommend switching to Tamiya acrylic paint (which are non-toxic). But if you have a gas mask and a well ventilated area, good for you, just open your window.
