I don't know if they did choose Zorro cause of pop culture, but that's what I first thought of when they unveiled his name.

But yeah, Zero is unique to LA, Zorro is basically his anime counterpart but also different enough. The two don't coexist at any given point.

The only armor that shows up in both LA and Anime is the Garo Armor.
