Today we revisit an old friend.



Kamen Rider W is easily in my top Kamen Riders for both the series and the suit design. I love the half and half gimmick and the way the show attempted to combine Showa and Heisei sensibilities.

The Figure Rise Standard kit is a good one but the green has always bothered me. I've wanted to paint it for a long time but the idea of taking it apart had put me off of doing it. Well today was a chill rainy day so I went for it.


Didn't get a good before picture, but the one on the right is the out-of-box green.

I painted all the green parts in the new Gundam Marker metallic green (GM 174). The packaging officially calls it yellow-green which is a much better fit for W than the old metallic green Gundam marker.

The silver was painted with the always fabulous Shine Silver EX01 Gundam Marker. Then a little metallic red was painted on the head crest, replacing the former sticker. I also took this opportunity to touch up the black paint around the gold parts of the cyclone side.




I am so much happier with the way the kit looks now. It has completely obviated my desire for the Seihou figure.

At this point I think Build is the only one remaining that I still wish to repaint.
