I'm glad that was as much of a twist for you as it was! I had at least a vague idea of every Rider show going in, and for Kabuto, I knew it was about an aloof guy who points to the heavens and quotes his grandmother, so the trick the episode pulls of building up Kagami just as much was something where I've always wondered how it works going in blind. Like, I have to imagine even with having his own Rider belt, a clueless viewer might assume Tendou is merely going to end up being a secondary Rider in the vein of Garren or something? It's yet another interesting choice Kabuto does in building its story.
