I do in fact like Lost Galaxy a whole lot... as I remember it! It's been so long since I've seen it in any significant capacity there's way I could speak to details, but I've long been in love with its blending of sci-fi and fantasy tropes, doing its own thing while embracing aspects of Gingaman that were ripe with dramatic potential, which is definitely most apparent with the Magna Defender's arc, which is pretty much lifted wholesale from the source series. Very wisely.

But yeah, with so much distance, it's going to be hard to offer some big defense of it off the cuff. Definitely a show I'd like to watch again in full some day, and see how much it holds up for me.
