Yeah, I remember getting that Casshern at a convention on a bootleg DVD (when bootleg DVDs and conventions were both things). I want to say it was one of the first films to to do a ton of CG sets, alongside Sky Captain and the Star Wars films. (There was also an Enki Bilal film I can't remember the name of?) I had no knowledge of the Casshern franchise when I saw it, so I could only judge it on raw entertainment value, and... yeah, "kind of mediocre" describes my memory of it.
