I guess I could see the two default combinations as, like, representing the different philosophies people can take when designing Sentai robos and other combining mecha? With Zyuran/Gaon, they have the components transform very similarly as they combine, prioritize giving the combination a unified overall appearance, and keep the kibble to a minimum. And with Vroon/Magine, the components transform in different ways, the resulting combination incorporates different aesthetics, and it's decked out with extra attachments. (And my preference for the two mismatched combos represents how going too far towards any extreme can lead to a bad design XD)

I'm probably reading deeper into this than I really need to, but it's kinda neat.
