Yeah, it's... they basically finished the TV series with 44, the themes and character arcs and master plot and all of the Worm stuff that goes with it. Then they did a goofy romance two-parter with Misaki and Tsurugi that ends up not working out because Tsurugi needs to go back to France. Then the final three episodes amount to the TV movie version of the Kabuto story, where it's, like, the Bullet Point version of all of these characters and concepts. Tendou is full of himself. Kagami has Very Big Feelings. Hiyori is a cook. Kageyama is a failure. Yaguruma is psychotic. (I really wish there'd been a part in the One Year Later credits where we cut to the docks, and Yaguruma is sitting next to Kageyama's decaying corpse, trying to feed it shitty ramen and talking about the light that exists for them.) In the absence of expanding or deepening our understanding of the characters, because their stories already concluded, we get 47-49 acting like series recap. Fun for being able to remember what you liked about the show, terrible at justifying its existence.
