Rewatching one of myobviously favorite episodes in Zero-One just to see if Gai's ""redemption"" still holds up to my ZAIA-stained eyes.

It still does.

For what the team had to work with, I still think they did really good job in converting Gai to their side.

It's dumb, it's stupid, how can you forgive this guy just because he got his robot dog back? I don't know what to tell you, it was great seeing him get on his knees, clutching his dog. It was great to see him attempt to make amends with the cast and all of them just partially accepting it. They didn't completely forgive him, but they do need him.

The part where he defends Aruto from the Ark's attack and basically tells him "I hate you so much, kid, but I love your company so goddamn much. Now help me beat this dude!" still brings some emotion to me.
