I know these are model kits, but what else do I need to know about Minipla before I decide if I should get one? How much do they cost, how good you need to be at model kits, etc.
Minipla kits can be on the pricey side for what they are. The bigger kit like Liner Boy was $100! Depending on whether this has a US release or not, it will likely be around $60 - $80.
But the kits are extraordinary and often become elusive collector's items. They have articulation that DX toys can only dream of, while maintaining excellent combination gimmicks.
You don't need much experience with model kits in order to make these kits. Bandai model kits are generally very beginner friendly. In fact, you really only need a decent pair of nippers and you're good to go. There's no glue required.
However, some minipla kits, depending on the design have really small parts that you either could lose easily or break if you're not careful. For example, the Dancouga minipla kit uses a lot of thin and long gun barrels.
The Kiramager minipla kit had tiny wheels.
