I guess I didn't find it that obvious? Them looking vaguely similar is a claim I could make about 90% of the women in Kamen Rider (long black hair, slim build, late teens to early 20s, median height), them having the same role is part of the rhyming structure of the two eras, and I'm only two episodes in so I've got no idea what is on later soundtracks. I assumed, if anything, Yuri was Wataru's mom (and may yet be, since this is Kamen Rider and they love stories about secret siblings), so the Octopus Fangire casually mentioning it was a pretty big shock.
