I am totally okay with tiny toku children like Shizuka giving a wide berth to gigantic people with emotional or mental hardships! I don't think she's being cruel or anything, she's just being pragmatic. Biggie is an unknown quantity who is bigger than the two of those kids put together. It's totally sensible to not run down a hill and ask him what's up. Leave it for trained professionals. (Which was her overall advice! She's the brains of the outfit!)

And, like, she's mostly just saying to leave him alone, not, like, shun him. When he's drowning, she helps Wataru save him.
