I'm very keen to see how they approach the Anniversary concepts of this show, absolutely. Zi-O, from what I've gathered, attacks it in a very Phase 2-appropriate Legend Riders For Every Mood way, just gathering every single Heisei actor who'd agree to a cameo. Decade... I'm not really expecting that? I've probably said this at least a hundred times now, but I'm okay with Decade covering the idea of these shows, rather than hauling out actors or continuing stories.

Some of it - boy, I really don't want to get out over my skis on this, having watched one single episode so far - is that Decade is doing a lot to to democratize the idea of storytelling. Like, that whole thing about The Story Of Wataru... Wataru doesn't belong to Toei anymore. He doesn't belong to the actor, he doesn't belong to Inoue, he doesn't belong to Tiberius Toei, the CEO of Toei (did not check the wiki, feels correct). Once a story gets out into the world, we all get a say in it. Stories become bigger than individual contributors once they take root in our hearts, if I can bungle a metaphor. So a series opting, for logistical reasons or otherwise, to just try and talk about what it felt like to watch these shows? To echo and reflect Kuuga (for example), rather than continue or laud Kuuga? I think that's a thematically-relevant way to approach paying homage.

I mean, sure! The beginning is the sort of thing that could work like the original Star Wars, where it's all little hints that get your imagination going. I can see that.

Edit: also, in discussing the show itself. But also not really, I love Journey Through The Decade. It's unique in the sea of other openings. Most openings (that I can currently recall) are always about hyping you up for the episode, upbeat, shows you the heroic Kamen Rider, but Decade's is more kinda sad in a way? My favorite parts are Natsumi standing there as various riders appear and fade out, and the end part with Decade fighting the main riders. Sets up how I view Decade, as just this eternal rider filled with conflict with other riders.

The part in the opening I genuinely cannot stop thinking about is the shot of a crying Tsukasa being handed his camera from someone off-screen. I am aching to find out why that shot is in there.

I am going to be unbelievably pissed when it's just Sakurai.
