It... there's a thing I think it's easy to misconstrue with Blade's themes generally, and what this show is saying about it specifically. It's not about suffering and powering through, or dealing well with adversity. It's recognizing that
you have failed,
stopping, and trying to move forward from that. It's not about trying to salvage an unsalvageable situation, or about keeping your wits about you when things are falling apart. Onodera's whole point to Kenzaki is that he's already lost his job, lost being Blade. That's done.
Now
, he gets to decide what comes next, whether that's becoming someone who deserves to be Blade or not.

I cannot stress this enough:
it is totally unintentional.
Like, there's eventually a benefit for Tsukasa treating Kenzaki like absolute shit, but we're in some real A Broken Clock Is Right Twice A Day territory. He's completely being a jerk to Blade for no other reason than Blade makes it incredibly easy to root against him in the first half of this story.
