Yeah, he did a good job with a real nothing role. By having Souji not even show up until the final few minutes, and then having Tsukasa do all of the Tendou stuff, this guy's got a very narrow window to create a memorable character. I think he did a solid, Very Non Tendou Souji job of creating a sense of openness and warmth with Mayu. It's not the weird mystery of Tendou/Hiyori - which maybe undercuts the Kabuto homage of it all - but it's a solid emotional beat in a story that otherwise didn't really connect with me.

That actor was also totally unhinged as his cyclopean doppelganger, which was fun.

And thing is that is the last time we have seen him that unhinged so far. At least on the tokusatsu side of things. After that his two notable roles in super sentai were model father figures.
