Alright, this is me literally throwing things out here with no real theory. I consider Vice to be an extension of Ikki, his own vices given form. Perhaps the picture where he's with Daiji has actually never had Ikki in it? A large part of this episode is Ikki not really being empathetic or considerate of others, and maybe he places a lot of importance on himself as the one who keeps his family afloat. Thus, he and Vice self-insert himself into this picture of Daiji until their issue is resolved?

Literally spitballing here but it's fun to think about.
