Let's not forget that the guy who says all of these things, the lawyer, is a major asshole. For him, Ikki being nosy and caring about others comes across as egoistic. And because Ikki is actually empathetic, he can see how the lawyer is right. But Vice doesn't agree because really, what's wrong with caring about others, even if you go overboard sometimes?

That's how I understood that scene. It's fine for Ikki to keep going instead of doubting himself over what lawyer dude thinks about him.
