[Fish Sandwich]

Yeah this show is still really good. All that material with Julio really did not pull any punches, and he's a way more sympathetic character because of it. It's sort of a shame I don't want to take the time to try and analyze this stuff more in depth right now, because no quick thumbs up I can give this episode is doing justice to the complex mix of visceral emotions on display here.

It wasn't a bad episode for Ikki and Vice, either. Again, I really want these two to feel like an iconic, inseparable duo, and plots like this do a whole lot to get them there. Although as great as all the introspection is, I can't help but find it funny at the same time how every instance of Ikki potentially reevaluating his own actions has him defaulting back to his comfort zone because a literal personification of his own repressed irresponsibility and narcissism reassures him he's fine the way he is. Ikki really IS Japan's #1 egoist! ...But like, obviously that's a huge oversimplification of Vice's role in the series (which like lots of things in Revice is surprisingly multifaceted), and jokes aside, I do appreciate what the show has been doing having him as this sort of motivating force for his partner.

Oh, and I just realized – they played LiveDevil so that the theme song would actually be in the episode somewhere, because after Ex-Aid, it seems Kamen Rider has just stopped feeling it's important to have a normal opening each week.
