That is... definitely an odd way of framing that scene. He just said that he'd put his life on the line for Hiromi's sake. He didn't tell him to go kill himself, he told him to do what he wants to do, but with the assurance that he won't die for it.

I said it before, Ikki knows the situation Hiromi is in, especially since he was in basically the same situation during Volcano's Re-Debut.

Really, the only issue is Ikki somehow knew the right time where the belt won't kill him and Hiromi's supposed final fight isn't really 'big' in the grand scheme of things.
