I think it'd be neat for Shinobi to pop up in a Rider movie this year, absolutely. But I'm more into the idea of him just not showing up again until the 10th Reiwa show, used as some deep-cut anniversary get. Only seven more years to wait!

I think it's more than that? Episodes 15 and 16 really expose how much Geiz has grown to respect Sougo, and how much he values their incredibly weird dynamic. Geiz in the beginning of 15 is basically begging Sougo to lay down his Driver; not just because Geiz is desperate to prevent an apocalypse, but because he doesn't want to hurt Sougo to prevent an apocalypse. Geiz gets extra grim when he thinks Sougo's fate is sealed, and he gets all down on himself for Actually Coming Here To Make Friends. And he's so quick to find a reason not to leave 2018! No matter how flimsy!

I definitely don't think Geiz would call Sougo his friend -- I mean, he won't even call him Sougo -- but they're totally friends by the end of 16.

He's uncomfortable being celebrated as a hero, but defeating Oma Zi-O and saving the future is 100% his dream. It's basically his main character trait, outside of remembering to buy chicken for dinner. Geiz doesn't see himself as a hero, so a dude he has some unexplained beef with, showing up and IWAEing him in the middle of fight? Yeah, probably going to make him uncomfortable!

Anyways, yeah, it's sort of tough to say a lot about this episode as an episode, but as a launchpad for a whole new arc, I think this one does an amazing job introducing yet more clever concepts to drive Zi-O to ever greater heights of wild and exciting storytelling.

It was a hard episode to write about, because it's all about building anticipation for future developments (and Future developments). When I was finished watching this episode, I was pumped for what might happen next. That's awesome! That's hard to do! Any serialized show should be aiming for that as a response. But it mostly meant that I was stuck saying This Looks Interesting But I Don't Know What It Means Yet. That is... not super fun to talk about!
