Ginga was pretty unpopular when the show aired for a lot of these reasons. He just shows up out of nowhere with no explanation, has no backstory, and then gets defeated. Compared to Shinobi, Quiz, and Kikai he's incredibly half-assed.

And that is why I love him.

There are two things that make me adore these episodes so much and Ginga is one of them. This is, after all, the Kiva tribute arc, and what is more Kiva than a new power-up randomly showing up with no explanation? Ginga is some Shodoran/Tatsulot-level bullshit and I am 1000% here for it. The only thing that would make this a better homage to Kiva was if Woz never used or mentioned it again after this episode.

The other thing I love is, of course, Yuko. I have no issues with the plot twist of Yuko really being an unhinged murderer. Actually, I kind of love it. I cannot hate on how committed she is to her shtick. So her boyfriend has left her for another woman and she grabs the nearest heavy, blunt object she find to kill this woman. I get it; that makes perfect logical sense. But the fact that it's a manhole cover is really funny. The fact that in the future she continues to use manhole covers as her weapon of choice is goddamn hilarious. There is something just so purely delightful about her adherence to that one specific weapon that just absolutely makes this episode for me.
