Throughout the history of Western Anime Dubs and Tokusatsu Adaptations from Godzilla to Power Rangers, the context and dialogue are routinely changed to localize the material for audiences who won't follow the original cultural context.

Does this practice run the risk of being a potentially harmful form of cultural appropriation or even "cultural misappropriation"?

Granted, many such instances are done when Western companies make legal distribution deals with the owners of the material they intend to dub or sub or adapt, but does that truly make things better?

Could such fears be influencing Hasbro? Is it better to just sub a Sentai and let PR do its own thing?
