I don't think the transformation would be quite as good-looking though. Full electronic auto transformation still seems quite hard to do

The magnet is actually on the front of Fire. The panel that folds down into the front bumper in vehicle mode has a magnet that holds it down, it robo mode it winds up on the chest. And it's definitely better that it's auto, it gives you the added bonus of the transformation sound going the entire time both ways. The electronics are where this figure is at. I can completely forgive any other problems I might have with it because it has a killer light & sound gimmick.
