Now at least Rider upsizes them from the DX versions (calling you out, modern Ultraman), but I find it hard to shake off suspension of belief with some of these things. Ha ha, my first-ever Kamen Rider weapon was the Gashacon Breaker -- a weapon I would gladly pay Complete Style Gigantic money for if they made one -- so I am probably the last person in the world to decry a show's weaponry being too toyetic.

But even outside of that, I think it's a natural hedge for this show's collection of swords. I don't know if any toyline for kids could get away with large, bladed weaponry, so a design ethos that allows for bulky, stubby swords... I think that's just corporate self-preservation?
