I don't... think that's what's going on here? Akemi's death is a brief rift that ends with Hiromi showing up; the larger issue is and always has been that Daiji resents Ikki's success and the support it engenders in others, while Daiji's moral certainty and pragmatism only gets him deeper into darkness.
