I appreciate the quick response to my call for alternate viewpoints on Revice! Y'all did not disappoint!

I mean, I sort of agree with this, and sort of don't. I think there aspects of the storytelling that didn't have a series worth of juice in them -- basically, Fenix and Giff/Akaishi/Giffamilia just don't have enough moves to them to carry long stretches of the series. But! I feel like the character relationships and arcs are nicely arranged to cover a lot of ground, and to make it always feel like something in the cast is changing/evolving/challenged. I frequently didn't care about what was happening in the world of Revice, but I almost always cared about what was happening to the characters of Revice.

I don't know how much of a problem I think this is? I mean, it's a valid criticism: there's a bunch of stuff in the first couple episodes that either get immediately jettisoned (Happy Spa's going to be forced to shut down!) or eventually disregarded because no one could figure out how to square it with later explanations (Vice wants to eat people, including Yukimi). It would certainly have been a smoother ride if the production team had been smarter about salvaging things that didn't work. But, like, I'm okay with a show that doesn't handcuff itself to things that it's outgrown? It's a bummer, especially when I eventually rewatch Revice, but I think it lets more interesting stories develop in the long run of the series.

Ha ha, I feel like they were the focus of the show, at least as much as anyone else? This was more of an ensemble than even Saber was, where any two characters could claim to be the stars of an individual episode. I love how much Genta and Yukimi contributed to the overall narrative, and (even though I didn't care for them) the grown-ups of Weekend also got big, meaty storylines.
