He has lost his memories, but remembers the feelings they caused and wants to experience them again.

I think Takahashi is promoting the idea, "Daichi is sad and wants to know how to be happy. So he wants to know everything." But for such a characterization, there is not enough middle between a scoundrel and a villain on the verge of repentance.

In general, all this does not make sense, because Daichi-Nadge is dead. Daichi-Jamato took his memory and appearance, but after that he absorbed many memories of other people. So the current Daichi is a mixture of all those absorbed by the Tree of Knowledge with Daichi's appearance.

Well I do not know. Amatsu, after teaming up with the good guys, stopped the bad deeds (at least until the Outsiders). And Daichi still has a whole tree of captives. That is, I still remember that the matter was not limited to Sarah alone.
