Better than I was expecting, so far I'm quite hopeful. The CGI is... not godawful, at times it was actually pretty good.

I was going to speculate that the guy with the red ring is the teacher, before they just revealed it at the end. I'm thinking that the guy who gave the driver to Hotaro is probably his father. I wonder, if that's the case, how Hotaro will react upon the revelation, considering what he saw unfolding before his very eyes. I could be completely wrong, since Hotaro must know what his father looked like less than a decade ago, considering the family picture in their home, and I can't imagine his appearance having completely changed in that time.
