It is honestly both surprising and gratifying that the series would randomly decide to bring up Kirihiko's death at this point in the series. I like how it's not some huge lead-up, or massive twist -- it's just a story about Kirihiko's sister, dropped in from wherever. Feels more natural that way, I think.

This is just the 2nd Place version of the Kirihiko/Shotaro relationship that the producers were too cowardly to pull the trigger on.

Some of this is just Noir Romance, though? Bitou's love for Bell didn't make any sense, but he couldn't stop himself. Even if he'd known she was behind the attack on the armored car, he'd've probably taken the fall for her anyway. At least with Sokichi's attempt at kindness, Bitou could take some solace in protecting Bell, rather than knowing he was a sap, a patsy.
Like, this is just a noir love story, where a good man falls for a bad woman and pays the price for it, but he still fell in love with her. No one's going to argue sense into Bitou, you know?
