That's a little too extreme a reaction for my tastes, but Hasbro is making a very disconcerting move that's more than a little condescending. If you don't want it, give it to someone who does. An auction is probably a very literal interpretation of that philosophy, especially since there isn't any indication that they've shopped the franchise out to see if someone would buy it and all the available props.

As sad as this is, I think there is precedent for it. Didn't Christie's have a massive Star Trek auction a good 20 years ago? I think there was even a documentary which was predicated on both Trek history and the actual auction and the fans who acquired the suits and models.

I think this was a rush to judgment; too much too soon. I'm not gonna stop buying Hasbro merch cause they're just too damn big, but this shouldn't be forgotten...ever!
