I love how this episode shows that Shouma might be naive, but he's not an idiot. He knows what's right and what's wrong, and this sheer innocence is quite delightful to watch.

Didn't expect someone actively researching Granutes, though I guess it makes sense. Valen has to get his gear somehow.

Honestly, my leading theory int his show has to do with the Dark Treats. They're shown to be addictive, and Stomach Inc. targets rich folk through their 'premium line' (as said in a previous episode), implying the existence of a regular line. Additionally, the show's producer blog said that the heirarchy of the Granute world will play an important part in this show later on. It's possible that Dark Treats are being used to subjugate the lower-class Granutes under the control of Stomach Inc. through their addictive qualities. You can't question the rule of your rulers if they're feeding you food that causes severe withdrawal symptoms after all. If this theory ends up being correct or close to the truth, then there's some real Promised Neverland stuff going on here.
