It doesn't, because a desire needs to be at least a little bit selfish. Eiji's desire now is Helping People, but that's something that only exists when someone else needs help, or asks for Eiji to intervene, or reaches out; it's someone else's desire with Eiji as the conduit, and that's the whole problem right now. A desire that would counteract the takeover of the Purple Medals needs to be something that's just for Eiji. (This is all my read of the show so far! Opinions may differ!)
