The problem is not predictability, but what is satisfactory for a narrative.
Is Nyelv's death of getting blown up by Bocca magically getting the bombs on Nyelv (somehow without him noticing) satisfactory? Not really.
I mean, it would be perfectly logical if Lakia overextended himself in the next episode, overloaded his driver since no scientist ensured that the Pudding A La Mode Gochizo was fully compatible, and for him to explode into pieces with the Gavv cast turning to the camera with the "Well that just happened" look, but it would be so comical and random that it would undermine the character and story to that point. I mean, logically it would make sense. Lakia was just hired muscle with a poor plan to get revenge on the Stomach family, and had not expertise in combat strategy or scientific knowledge to verify that A La Mode would even work, but would the average viewer take that into account, or just naturally get angry that their favorite character got an unsatisfying and relatively inconsequential death?
Similarly. imagine that we eventually get a Build remake in the vein of Amazons or Black Sun. Say, in the final stand of Grease, he inserts the Blizzard Knuckle into the Build Driver, turns the crank, and you hear the standard "Are you ready?" and then the belt malfunctions and Kasumi says "Huh?" and then just explodes and dies.
Would that work Narratively? After all Kazumi is just a farmer who was experimented upon without any experience in combat strategy or scientific background. It would make a lot of sense if he and Sento did not anticipate that he would be compatible with the Build System, and then something go awry. Is that
satisfactory?
Absolutely not.
The same applies to Nyelv. It not only is a death that you have to strain your brain in an insane bout of mental gymnastics to accept as logical, but ultimately is very unsatisfying with the narrative. Plus, if you really wanted a "character dies in an unexpected and tragic way" Jeep is the #1 go-to. Guy has been pushing himself without any understanding of what he is getting into, and it would make sense that overstep his bounds (whether just physically, or getting in the way of Bocca).
